Dr. Diana Chacon, PhD

Your journey to wholeness begins here.

I believe healing is both an art and a science — one that honors whole person care. My role as your therapist is to help you cultivate that balance, guiding you toward a fuller, more grounded, and empowered life.

I am a New Jersey and New York state Licensed Clinical Psychologist with more than 25 years of experience specializing in individual and couples therapy. My style is warm, engaging, and collaborative, combining the clarity of evidence-based traditional and holistic techniques with a deep respect for the human relationship at the center of therapy.

The space I create for therapy is peaceful, nonjudgmental, and deeply supportive — a place where you can bring your full self, explore without fear, and begin to understand not only what hurts, but what can heal. I see therapy as a partnership. You bring your lived experience and wisdom; I bring professional insight, practical tools, and a calm, grounded presence rooted in both clinical expertise and attuned emotional care.

Together, we work to uncover the roots of distress, strengthen resilience, and help you move toward lasting well-being.

Professional background

For over two decades, I have had the privilege of walking alongside clients as they navigate life’s transitions, losses, and opportunities for growth. My approach has evolved through years of practice, research, and continued personal development. I believe that effective therapy requires not only strong training, but also deep self-awareness and presence.

My work integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Somatic Therapy that helps you reconnect with your body’s innate wisdom and establish emotional regulation. This holistic, trauma-informed lens recognizes the interconnectedness of mind, body, nervous system, and relationships.

I am bilingual in English and Spanish, allowing me to work fluidly across cultures and identities. My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming and grounded in cultural sensitivity. I consider each person’s story, background, and values integral to the therapeutic process.

I believe that people who seek therapy are not “broken.” They are often introspective, insightful, and ready to create change. Many of my clients value a holistic lifestyle, personal growth and a desire to live intentionally. Therapy with me honors that holistic perspective while offering practical, science-backed strategies for emotional and relational healing.

Therapy tailored to your needs

You won’t find a one-size-fits-all approach here. Every session is customized to your goals, needs, and pace.

We will begin by exploring what is happening in your inner world—your emotions, beliefs, relationships, and the patterns that may be holding you back. From there, we develop a plan that supports both immediate relief and long-term transformation by addressing not only symptoms, but the deeper patterns beneath them..

My goal is to help you gain clarity, self-compassion, and skills you can apply in your everyday life. Many clients begin noticing meaningful shifts after only a few sessions—feeling more grounded, less reactive, and better able to manage life’s challenges. Over time, we build on those skills to create lasting change.

You can expect therapy to feel collaborative and empowering. You will learn practical tools to manage anxiety and stress, navigate relationships, and strengthen emotional resilience. At the same time, therapy offers space for deeper understanding, regulation, and meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.

My holistic perspective means that your wellness is not limited to symptom reduction—it includes nurturing the parts of you that make life rich, balanced, and fulfilling. Together, we work toward integration and wholeness so that your outer life reflects your inner growth.

As I often remind my clients, healing is not about becoming someone new—it’s about coming home to yourself.

Education

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from New York University (NYU) and my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University.

Over the years, I have engaged in advanced training in trauma-informed care, mindfulness, and integrative approaches to emotional wellness. This ongoing study allows me to thoughtfully tailor our work to where you are right now—so you can cultivate insight, resilience, and meaningful relief that endures long after therapy has ended.

I approach care from a whole-person lens, then translate that into simple steps you can use to feel better day to day. I am committed to my own growth, too, and bring that accountability and respect into our work together.

I believe it is essential for psychologists to engage in their own process of growth. Only by doing our inner work can we serve as clear, conscious, and grounded guides for others. Therapy is shaped not only by techniques, but by the clinician’s presence, attunement, and emotional capacity.

Your path forward

My hope is that therapy with me offers you a space to exhale—a space to reconnect with your truth, your strength, and your capacity for transformation. Whether you’re seeking to ease anxiety, improve your mood, or navigate relationship challenges, we’ll work together to create lasting change.
